হযরত সাকিকইবনে ইব্রাহিম রহমাতুল্লাহি আলাইহি বলেন, মানুষ চারটি বিষয় বলার ক্ষেত্রে আমার মতোই বলে কিন্তু আমলের ক্ষেত্রে বিপরিত করে...
১. মানুষ শিকার করে তারা আল্লাহর বান্দা ও গোলাম অথচ কাজ করে স্বাধীন ও আযাদ ব্যক্তির ন্যায়...
২.. মানুষ বলে আমাদের রিযিকের চাবিকাঠি আল্লাহর হাতে.. অথচ দুনিয়ার কোনো বস্তু তাদের অর্জিত হওয়ার পূর্বে তারা অন্তর থেকে আল্লাহতায়ালাকে জিম্মাদার হিসেবে পূর্ণ ইয়াকিন ও তার উপর ভরসা করে না...
৩.. মানুষ শিকার করে আখিরাত দুনিয়া থেকে শ্রেষ্ঠ.. অথচ তারা দুনিয়ার সম্পদ অর্জনে সর্বদাই ব্যস্ত থাকে.. আখিরাতের ব্যাপারে কোনো চিন্তাই নেই...
৪... মানুষ বিশ্বাস করে মৃত্যু নিশ্চিত আসবেই অথচ আমলের ক্ষেত্রে ঐ সকল লোকদের মত হয়ে যায় যেন মৃত্যু কখনই আসবে না...
হযরত আবু হামেদ লাফফাফ রহমাতুল্লাহি আলাইহি এক স্থানে লিখেছেন, যে ব্যক্তি মৃত্যুকে অধিক পরিমাণে স্মরণ করে তার জন্য মূল্যবান তিনটি জিনিস অর্জিত হয়...
১.. তওবা দ্রুত কবুল হয়
২...সম্পদে অল্প তুষ্টি নসিব হয়..
৩.. ইবাদতে আনন্দ ও মনোযোগ সৃষ্টি হয়.
আর যে মৃত্যু থেকে উদাসীন তার উপর তিন প্রকারের আজাব আপতিত হয়...
১.. গুনা করে তওবা করতে বিলম্ব করবে..
২.. উপার্জিত সম্পদের উপর সন্তষ্টি হবেনা.. সম্পদ যত হোক না কেন তা কম মনে করবে..
৩.. ইবাদত-বন্দেগিতে অলসতা সৃষ্টি হবে..
ইমাম গাজ্জালী রহমতুল্লাহি আলাইহি বলেন সমস্ত প্রশংসা কেবল আল্লাহ তায়ালার, যিনি বড় বড় অত্যাচারী ও জালেমদের ঘাড় মৃত্যুর ধারা মটকিয়ে দিয়েছেন এবং বড় বড় বাদশাহের কোমর মৃত্যুর ধারা ভেঙে দিয়েছেন.... আর সম্পদশালীদের সব আশা-আকাঙ্ক্ষা মৃত্যুর দ্বারা ধুলিস্যাৎ করে দিয়েছেন.... এরা মৃত্যুর আলোচনা কেউ ঘৃণা করত.. অথচ সময়মতো এরা কবরের অন্ধকূপে নিক্ষিপ্ত হয়েছে..ঝলমলে বিজলি বাতির আলো নরম বিছানা ছেড়ে অন্ধকার মাটির বিছানায় পৌঁছে গেছে... দাস দাসীদের সাথে খেল তামাশা ছেড়ে পোকামাকড়ের বেষ্টনীতে আবদ্ধ হয়েছে... ভালো ভালো খাবার ও বন্দু বান্দবের আড্ডা থেকে নির্জন ঘরে আটকা পড়েছে... তাদের মজবুত দালানকোঠা কি তাদেরকে মৃত্যু থেকে রক্ষা করতে পেরেছে? সুতরাং তিনি আল্লাহ যার শক্তির সাথে কেউ শরিক নেই...
মিত্যু যখন অবধারিত. মাটির নিচে যখন যেতেই হবে.. কেয়ামতের ভয়ংকর দৃশ্য যখন দেখতেই হবে, তবে মানুষের জন্য আবশ্যক মৃত্যুর চিন্তা করা ও এর জন্য প্রস্তুতি নেয়া...
